JABALPUR: It was a lonely remembrance day for the household of Ashwin Kacchi in a Jabalpur village on the fifth anniversary of the Pakistan-backed terror assault through which he and 39 of his CRPF colleagues had been killed. No one confirmed up on Wednesday to satisfy Kacchi’s household in Khudawal village, barely an hour’s drive from Jabalpur, whereas the various guarantees made by the Madhya Pradesh govt stay simply guarantees.
The household constructed a statue on their very own as they had been uninterested in ready for the government. After TOI reported the matter final 12 months, govt promised to construct a backyard round it, however not a brick has been laid. The govt-given home is crumbling. A faculty was purported to be constructed and named after him, however there isn’t any signal of that both.
‘No one remembers martyrs after polls are over’
Army and CRPF officers and a few ex-servicemen – Kacchi’s brothers in uniform – garlanded the statue and a “kanya bhoj” was organised by the household, however no public consultant or govt official set foot in Khudawal.
Kacchi’s household spent Rs 6 lakh constructing the statue. “During Ashwin’s last rites, and also during the inauguration of the statue that we built, administrative officials and public representatives had said that a school would be built in his name and the statue site would be developed as a park. But those are still just promises. Not a single official or representative turned up to pay homage to the martyr,” Ashwin’s brother, Sumant Kacchi, advised TOI.
His niece, Priyanka Kacchi, stated, “Whenever we talk to public representatives about the construction of a school in my uncle’s name or building the park that was promised, they say, ‘Haven’t you got Rs 1 crore from government?’ I think the sacrifice of any soldier should not be weighed in monetary terms. The martyrdom of jawans is made an issue in elections, but no one turns up to offer homage to them later. The house govt has given us is also in deplorable condition, promises remain unfulfilled.”
In Madhya Pradesh, govt offers monetary help of Rs 1 crore to the households of “martyrs”. A home is supplied and a faculty is known as after the fallen soldier. In Ashwin Kacchi’s case, govt supplied Rs 1 crore and allotted a home, however different guarantees lie forgotten.
Even in Bhopal, govt took over a 12 months to maintain its promise to call a street after Group Captain Varun Singh, a Shaurya Chakra awardee, who died within the helicopter crash that killed CDS Bipin Rawat and 12 others. It took a collection of TOI stories to get the administration to behave on then CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s promise.
