MARQUETTE — A trio of golfers based out of Iron Mountain’s Pine Grove Country Club won the Upper Peninsula Golf Association Senior 3-Man Scramble held at the Marquette Golf Club on Thursday.
The threesome of Paul Bujold, Paul Menghini and Tom Lavigne competed in a field of 43 trios from around the U.P. on a brisk, but otherwise excellent day for golf.
The winners posted a score of 62 as a pair of threesomes from the home MGC were next in the championship flight just one stroke behind. Terry Steinhoff, Pat Havel and Bob Keller earned runner-up status with their 63, while Steve Swentik, Dan Adamini and Steve Specker also had 63 and finished third.
These are the other flight winners with their home club and score — 1st flight, Steve Danek, Walley Helmila and Joe Levandoski, Marquette GC, 64; 2nd, Pete Peterson, Mike Peterson and Erik Spindler, Gladstone Golf Club, 65; 3rd, John Lobeck, Butch Vollwerth and Dick Blough, Portage Lake Golf Club, 65; 4th, Paul Healey, Tom Hammar and Jerry Racine, Wawonowin Country Club, 67; 5th, Paul Schrader, Dave Jahn and Don Savoie, Escanaba CC and Sault Ste. Marie GC, 68; 6th, Roger Steele, Tom Varda and Paul Heino, Marquette GC and Wawonowin CC, 70.
