Just four games into his first season in the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer is facing intense public scrutiny due to his licentious actions following a Week 4 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Those actions involved a young woman who has now unwittingly entered the public eye.

According to a report by Josh Peter of USA Today, the mother of the 24-year old woman who was recently filmed dancing with Urban Meyer at Urban Chophouse in Columbus, Ohio expressed concern for both her daughter’s wellbeing and her employment status. The woman in question works at a marketing company that is currently conducting an internal investigation into the incident that took place last on Oct. 1.

The woman, whose company has done work for Urban Chophouse, was recorded last weekend both dancing up against Meyer, a longtime top head coach at the college football level (including Ohio State) who is now in his first season with the Jaguars. Urban Chophouse is a joint venture between Meyer and a local Ohio restaurant owner, according to USA Today.

“(She) can’t even go anywhere,” the woman’s mother told USA Today. “It’s ruining her life is what it’s doing. I’m worried for her emotional status right now.”

An attorney representing the company the woman works for — New Horizon Media Group — stated that the company was not in a position to make a determination regarding her employment status. The woman has continued to work through her company’s internal investigation.

“We’ve had no prior issues with her whatsoever. She’s been a very solid asset to the company,” attorney Brian Duncan told USA Today. “We’re going to undertake our internal investigation to determine what, if any, impact this has on the company and we’ll proceed accordingly.” 

The nature of Meyer’s transgressions, combined with the fact that he stayed in Ohio instead of traveling back to Florida with his team after a loss, has earned him scorn both from the NFL at large and within the Jaguars themselves. In a strongly-worded statement, Jaguars owner Shad Khan made it clear that Meyer’s behavior was “inexcusable” and that he would need to “regain our trust and respect.”

Meyer, whose Jaguars play the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, reportedly addressed his team earlier this week to apologize for his actions.
