Advisor to Chief Minister and Advisor, Technical Education and Elections, Medo Yhokha, today said that the government is working on a robust sports policy for the state at the same time contemplating on channelizing sport disciplines under Nagaland Olympic Association so that it will function as the platform and medium for capable sportspersons to represent the state in bigger platforms.
He was speaking as Inaugural guest at the 61st Annual Sports Meet of the Jakhama Youth Organization today which commenced here at Jakhama Local ground.
While most of sportspersons are unable to peak out beyond District or state level due to non-availability of proper channels, a sports policy will be substantive in widening the horizon.
Speaking of the Southern Angami Region, he opined that the present society is endowed with land, resource and infrastructure which was otherwise deprived for the older generation who had at the same time were pioneers and champions in various fields.
Yhokha said that the present generation need to reflect on a wider perspective which would go beyond relinquishing achievement of the past but recreating legacies for the future.
The presidential address was delivered by Kekhüsazo Zao, JYO, President. The oath was administered by Games and sports Secretary Khulto Khazo. Earlier, the programme was chaired Dr Kelühol Tase. The sports meet will culminate on November 6.
