Cross country and women’s golf became the final junior college sports from the fall season to be postponed until January in the latest contingency plan released by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
The two non-contact sports join the rest of the fall lineup — basketball, football, soccer, water polo, women’s volleyball and wrestling — preparing to restart practice on January 18, 2021. Those teams plan to begin playing games in early February and end their season on April 17. Basketball schedules are currently capped at 28 contests plus two scrimmages.
The modified spring season is set to run from March 27 to June 23 with competition resuming April 10. There are not any full-contact sports among the spring slate: badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, men’s golf, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field and men’s volleyball. The CCCAA’s guidelines require baseball schedules to be limited to 40 games and two scrimmages.
