Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., introduced Friday that she’s going to run for reelection in 2024.

Pelosi first revealed her plans at a breakfast with volunteers in San Francisco. She adopted up publicly with an announcement on X, the social media platform beforehand generally known as Twitter.

“Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery,” The put up learn. “Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for reelection — and respectfully ask for your vote. -Nancy.”

Pelosi’s announcement comes as Democrats look to retake management of the House of Representatives after shedding 9 seats within the 2022 midterm election.

There have been questions on Pelosi’s political future because the 83-year outdated former Democratic chief introduced in November of final 12 months that she wouldn’t run for an additional time period in get together management. Pelosi was the primary lady elected speaker of the House in 2007. She served till 2011 when Republicans regained management of the chamber. She was reelected in 2019 — the primary speaker because the Sam Rayburn to say the speakership twice. She introduced she was stepping down from management in November 2022 and endorsed Rep Hakeem Jeffries to steer the Democratic caucus.
