Cathy Agnew of Radnor sent along these photos of some of the 30 homes in the neighborhood that lighted their porches in red lights to support the people who create and perform live entertainment.
The event brings attention to the loss of a vital part of the community and used the #Wemakeevents on social media. Live events employ over 12 million people nationwide and the COVID-19 pandemic has forced 95 percent of events to be cancelled leading to the loss of thousands of jobs.
Agnew is the organizer of the South Wayne Porchfest, held in September, which brings a wide variety musical acts to perform on front porches in the community to perform on residents’ front porches and invites the public to stop by to listen. In 2019 they drew 3,000 people and while the event has been cancelled for this year, Agnew hopes it will be back in 2021.
