India’s service sector continues to demonstrate robust performance, as new export business reached a series-record high, driving substantial growth in total sales. Although the pace of growth has moderated, it still ranks among the best in 13 years. Similar trends were observed in output, while strong demand for services prompted an upward adjustment in selling prices. Charge inflation rates accelerated to their highest level in over six years, while input costs saw a more moderate increase. In August, the seasonally adjusted India’s services PMI Business Activity Index decreased slightly from 62.3 in July to 60.1 but indicated one of the most significant output increases since mid-2010. Furthermore, August marked the twenty-fifth consecutive month of growth in total new business, driven by advertising and strong demand for services. Despite a slight slowdown compared to July, the overall expansion in sales remains one of the most robust in 13 years. The Indian service sector’s resilience and its ability to tap into global markets bode well for the country’s economic prospects, offering optimism amid challenging times.
