WESTWOOD — The Gladstone volleyball team turned it around in Westwood. After dropping the first two sets to the Patriots, the Braves swept the final three to come away with a 3-2 win Tuesday.

Gladstone couldn’t find its rhythm in the first two sets.

“We lacked communication in the first sets,” Braves coach Averi Kanyuh said. “Once we picked that up, and got back into the rhythm, that’s when we were able to come back and stay ahead and win.”

The Patriots were able to challenge the Braves early, and it wasn’t until later that they adapted.

“Westwood’s team really did a good job of challenging our tip coverage,” Kanyuh said. “We were able to pick up our energy as we progressed from what we did against Marquette (Monday). By the third and fourth set, we were able to get back on top of that.”

Kanyuh was happy with the effort and thought a few girls stepped up.

“Alivia Blowers, she did a great job serving,” she said. “Keeley Angsten did a good job subbing in when she had to step up to set.

“It was also nice to have Megan Crow back in the front line to keep us anchored.”

Gladstone hosts Gwinn Thursday.
