Coronavirus Live Updates: India has logged over 50,000 deaths linked to coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, the Union Health Ministry said this morning. The country’s Covid tally crossed the 26 lakh-mark today with about 58,000 fresh infections and 941 deaths registered in the last 24 hours.
The third worst-hit country by the pandemic, India has been reporting the highest number of daily cases across the world for the last 13 days, surpassing the United States and Brazil that have a higher caseload, according to the data by the World Health Organization.

The condition of former President Pranab Mukherjee continues to be critical and he is on ventilator support, the Army’s Research and Referral hospital said on Monday. Doctors attending on him said that his “vital and clinical parameters” are stable and he is being closely monitored, reports PTI.

An MLA from West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, who had tested positive for coronavirus, died this morning. Coronavirus-linked deaths in India have crossed 50,000 and almost 58,000 fresh cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 26.47 lakh, the Union Health Ministry said this morning.
Liquor shops in Chennai will reopen on Tuesday after nearly five months since the lockdown was imposed. A statement from the state government said the shops will remain open from 10 am to 7 pm and only 500 people will be served at each shop every day through a token system. Read Here
With 3,066 new COVID-19 cases reported in West Bengal on Sunday, the total number of cases rose to 1,16,498 including 86,771 discharges, 27,299 active cases and 2,428 deaths, the State Health Department said, reports ANI.
Odisha conducted more than 1 lakh COVID-19 tests within the last two days as the state government continues to focus on improving the testing rate in the state to control COVID-19, reports ANI.
The highest single-day spike of 1,165 Coronavirus cases and a record 41 fatalities pushed the COVID-19 tally in Punjab to 31,206 and the death count to 812 on Sunday, according to a bulletin by the state government, reports PTI.

With 546 new COVID-19 cases reported in Jharkhand on Sunday, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 23,224, the State Health Department said.
In a COVID-19 bulletin, the state government informed that 14 people died due to the virus on Sunday.
