Shortly after the governor’s announcement, News10NBC caught up with Bishop Kearney Head Coach Rick Gause, who said he understands the restriction on games is about safety.

“I want to play too, I want to coach, I’ve gone crazy, I think many of my peers and coaches in the area have gone crazy, but we have to take a look at where we are right now,” Rick Gause, head coach of Bishop Kearney’s football team said. “Is it going to harm people? Section V football is not bigger than this pandemic that’s going on right now.”

As for the sports that are allowed to compete this fall, like soccer, field hockey, tennis and cross country, the Department of Health says only two spectators per player will be allowed to watch the games.

Fans in attendance will also have to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing in the stands.
