Footballer Nikhila turns coach in sports councilKozhikode: Nikhila, who played for India in the junior womens football team, has taken up a new role in her life. She has turned a temporary coach at sports council here. From the last 2 years, she has been training youngsters here. Nikhila is the youngest daughter of Kundayithode native Surendran and Sheeba.

The footballer who played in international games turned a coach experiencing a financial crisis. Her family has been shifting from one rented house to another.

“My father is unable to go for any job after meeting a road accident. So, we were struggling to pay the house rent on time. I decided to work as coach,” said Nikhila, a lead player in the Indian team.

Nikhila, a passionate footballer started playing football at Amankuni paddy field during her childhood.

At the age of 14, she became a member of Kerala junior womens football team. From 2008 to 2014, she was a member of the national team of junior women. She played for India in matches held in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam and Jordan.

She scored 10 goals for India in the international matches.

Even after being famous as a national football player, this MCom graduate is struggling for her own house and job. At present, Nikhila and family are staying at Naduvattom.

Talking about her dream job, Nikhila revealed that she wants to become a police officer.
