Kothagudem: The incidence of dengue fever was on the rise within the State within the wake of wide-spread rainfall and floods throughout Telangana, Director (Public Health and Family Welfare) Dr. G Srinivasa Rao stated.
Speaking to the media right here on Sunday, he stated there was a chance of a dengue outbreak and that the Health division had already initiated remedial measures. Extensive sanitation programmes had been launched throughout the State by the division in coordination with line departments. Health camps to deal with residents in flood affected areas and consciousness programmes had been being carried out. People in flood affected villages had been suggested to make use of chlorinated water.
He stated 2,315 dengue fever instances had been reported to this point throughout the State whereas 1,150 instances had been reported for the corresponding interval final yr. The instances had been excessive in Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda. The Health division had shifted 1,000 pregnant girls in flood-prone areas within the State to beginning ready rooms at PHCs and different hospitals this month, of whom deliveries of 250 had been over.
