A reasonably weird incident happened within the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Monday after UP Warriorz’ Chamari Athapaththu was controversialy dismissed LBW. Facing a leg-spinner, Athapaththu was hit on the pads by Georgia Wareham of Royal Challengers Bangalore. While the on-field umpire gave the choice within the favour of the batting group, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana determined to go for a assessment. Surprisingly, the ball-tracking confirmed that the supply from Wareham would’ve hit the stumps, suggesting it was a googly and never a leg-spinner.

Seeing the choice changing from not-out to out, Athapaththu and her non-striking parnter Alyssa Healy have been left perplexed, with the latter even shouting on the digital camera, saying ‘no manner, no manner’.

UP Warriorz coach could not maintain his frustration when requested concerning the controversial dismissal.
