LIV Golf by no means will get away from the sports activities washing questions, irrespective of how aggravated Greg Norman turns into or what number of occasions Bryson DeChambeau says the problem has been “kicked to the curb.”
But it was raised once more this week because the Saudi Arabia-backed tour heads to Australia for the primary time, the place of origin of Norman, LIV’s commissioner and CEO; and its highest-ranked participant, Cameron Smith.
Norman was requested if he is ever had a dialog with the Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman or any of the senior management of the Public Investment Fund, which funds LIV, about Saudi Arabia’s human-rights file.
Norman, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens and operates LIV out of its West Palm Beach workplaces, stated he had not. He was requested why.

Ageless wonder: Gary Player has shot his age more than 3,000 times, has message to LIV golfers
“Because I’m the chairman and CEO of LIV Golf Investments, and that’s where I focus,” Norman stated. “I focus on golf. I stay focused on golf. My job is to build out LIV and the product we have on a global front. My job is to help Cam and the Rippers and the 11 other team members identify their future value and understand what it is.”
LIV has been branded a type of sports activities washing for Saudi Arabia to divert consideration from its atrocious human rights file that features executions and torture, and discrimination in opposition to girls, the LGBTQ neighborhood and others.
LIV golfers, a few of whom have been paid generational cash to defect from the PGA Tour, have been fed the speaking factors that they’re there to develop the sport of golf.
“Golf is a force for good,” Norman stated. “I’ve been involved with golf, like I said, as a player, as well as golf course designer. I’ve built some golf courses in third-world countries. I’ve built golf courses in communist countries. Golf is a force for good. It goes everywhere with the right platform because it delivers the right message, from education to hospitality to employment to tourism. Everywhere you go, golf is a force for good.”
DeChambeau referred to as any connection between LIV and sports activities washing “inaccurate.”
“We talked about that last year and we already kind of kicked that to the curb,” he stated. “It’s something that I truthfully believe is completely inaccurate. People have their opinions and their perspectives on it but we certainly don’t feel that way. We’re playing golf here.”
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas was a part of a press convention with Norman and Smith. Malinauskas touted Australia’s and South Australia’s file of advocating for “human rights considerations.” Malinauskas stated Australia and Saudi Arabia have a $3 billion buying and selling partnership.
“LIV is not a representative of Saudi Arabia,” Malinauskas stated. “LIV is a golf tournament. LIV is a golf tour and it’s shaking things up. And I think that’s a good thing.”
