Eminent filmmaker T V Chandran has been chosen for the distinguished J C Daniel Award instituted by the Kerala Government honouring his lifelong contributions to the Malayalam cinema. The coveted award for the 12 months 2022, comprising a handbag Rs 5 lakh, a statuette and a quotation, was introduced by state Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cheriyan right here on Saturday. A panel headed by well-known filmmaker Okay P Kumaran, actor-writer V Okay Sreeraman and actress Revathi chosen Chandran because the winner, an official assertion right here mentioned. The jury noticed that Chandran, by his motion pictures, has paved method for the expansion of the parallel cinema motion in Malayalam. A multi-time state and nationwide award winner, Chandran has been recognized for his motion pictures ”Ponthanmada”, ”Mankamma”, ”Dany”, ”Padam Onnu: Oru Vilapam”, ”Susanna” and so forth.
