LELAND — Free entertainment is coming to Leland this fall, as the town brings back its series of concerts and movies starting Thursday, Sept. 30.

After going on hiatus in 2020 because of the pandemic, as state protocols limited gatherings, Live at the Park will welcome three bands outdoors in Founders Park (113 Town Hall Dr.) in the coming month. The first show kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, with Chocolate Chip & Company Band out of Myrtle Beach. The seven-piece — keytarist included — plays through pop hits over the last five decades, from soul to rock to R&B and pop.

Concerts will continue Oct. 7 with Charlotte’s ACE Party Band (R&B, hip-hop, Top 40, country, rock, pop) and Salisbury’s beach music act The Tonez on Oct. 28.

After a scaled-back spring relaunch, Movies in the Park will return as well, featuring three films through the end of the year: Oct. 2, “Raya and The Last Dragon”; Oct. 16, “Hocus Pocus”; Dec. 11, “Elf.”

“We’re so excited to bring the community together again for our concerts and movies in Founders Park,” Mayor Brenda Bozeman said in a release. “If this last year-and-a-half has taught us anything, it’s that we’re stronger together. We look forward to celebrating that renewed sense of community and the people who make Leland so special with music and movies under the stars.”

No pets or alcohol is allowed, though lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome.
