About 1,700 seals have been discovered useless on the Caspian Sea coast in southern Russia, officers stated Sunday.

The authorities within the Russian province of Dagestan stated that it is nonetheless unclear what induced the animals’ deaths, however they possible died of pure causes.

Regional officers initially stated Saturday that 700 useless seals have been discovered on the coast, however on Sunday Zaur Gapizov, head of the Caspian Environmental Protection Center, stated in line with the state RIA Novosti information company that after a broader inspection of the coast the variety of useless animals was 1,700.
