Seven Orange County Schools are rolling out new know-how meant to detect weapons, beginning with Wekiva High School Monday, December 18.
The know-how referred to as OPENGATE is a walk-through weapons detection system that mechanically screens individuals who stroll via it carrying backpacks or different luggage.
It also can detect different banned gadgets on faculty campuses.
The system is much like ones already used at stadiums and different public venues.
The purpose is to determine and confiscate any contraband as college students are coming into faculty premises.
Along with Wekiva, the know-how might be rolled out at Boone, Horizon, Lake Nona, Evans, Timber Creek, and Jones excessive colleges. Those different colleges will get the tech beginning in March.
