It may officially be the off-season but there’s no slowing down in the player market.
Tyrone Peachey looks to have found a new club for next season after the Titans chose not to re-sign him, while the Dragons are reportedly set to give veteran prop Aaron Woods a lifeline.
Meanwhile the Eels have almost an entire starting side worth of players who can talk with rivals from November 1.
Read on for the latest NRL Transfer Whispers.
NRL RIVAL TARGETS EELS OFF CONTRACT STAR
The Parramatta Eels face losing one of their most consistent performers as the club moves to try and lock down a host of big-name stars.
A whopping 11 Eels players are at contract at the end of next season meaning they can talk to rival clubs from November 1.
Top of the Eels’ priority list is finalising new deals for Clint Gutherson, Ryan Matterson, Isaiah Papali’I, Junior Paulo Dylan Brown and Reed Mahoney.
One player who could slip through their fingers, therefore, is Marata Niukore.
The edge backrower is a fan favoruite with strong utility value given the ease with which he slotted in at centre during the 2021 season.
Now Wide World of Sports reports the Warriors are leading the pack to lure him away from the western Sydney club
WOODS’ NRL LIFELINE
Aaron Woods has been on the lookout for a new club ever since he was informed by the Sharks he wouldn’t be offered a new deal.
That search has come to an end with The Australian’s Brent Read revealing to NRL Tonight that the 30-year-old is “24-48 hours” away from inking a deal with the Dragons.
“A bit of breaking news on Aaron Woods, I expect him to join the Dragons in the next 48 hours so Woodsy’s career will go on in the NRL, which is good news for Aaron,” he said.
“That will develop as a said in the next 24-48 hours I imagine.”
Woods has played 233 NRL games over stints with the Wests Tigers, Bulldogs and Sharks. He’s represented both New South Wales and Australia but incoming Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon opted not to offer the prop a new deal beyond 2021.

PEACHEY TO JOIN TIGERS
Tyrone Peachey’s future looks to be all but settled with reports the ex-Titans utility will sign with the Wests Tigers.
Peachey was one of six players that departed the Titans at the end of their season and has been on the hunt for a new club ever since.
That search seems to have come to an end with The Daily Telegraph reporting on Monday that the 30-year-old has inked a deal with the joint venture.
Meanwhile, The Roar is reporting the deal is for two years and is worth $400,000 per season.
Peachey was linked to the Broncos, however they reportedly baulked at his asking price. It’s understood the Raiders also expressed interest.
The former New South Wales Origin representative has been the Titans’ Mr. Fix It over the last three seasons, playing basically everywhere on the park except the front-row.
He played five-eighth for the Titans’ final three games this year, including their qualifying finals loss to the Roosters. Although he genuinely looked good in the role, Gold Coast opted not to offer him a new deal.
