Russia has already began to hunt out various sources of bananas from nations together with India, it has emerged.

Earlier this week, the nation suspended round 1 / 4 of its banana imports from Ecuador in a dispute over navy {hardware}, though it claimed the ban was for alleged phytosanitary breaches.

According to Reuters, Russia intends to extend the quantity of bananas it imports from India, and has already taken supply of its first cargo.

It quoted Russian company Rosselkhoznadzor as saying “the volume of exports of Indian bananas to the Russian market will increase.”

A separate report in UK newspaper The Independent, in the meantime, instructed India was additionally eager to provide different fruits together with mangoes, pineapples, papaya and guava.

Ecuador’s banana trade has defended its phytosanitary record and mentioned it will work to resolve the dispute.
