VAN METER — The sixth-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond softball staff went 1-1 in motion right here on Saturday on the Van Meter Tournament.
After posting a 12-1 victory over South Hamilton, the Gaels (14-3 general) fell to Treynor, 7-1.
Payton Bradley earned the win vs. South Hamilton, hanging out three over 5 innings. She was additionally a key piece of the offense, recording two hits, scoring three runs, stealing two bases and driving in two extra.
Kaili Henning drove in three runs whereas Anna Kolacia had a pair of RBI with two walks and a success. Lauren Gibb and Ansley Oswald every scored twice, Josie Harvey had two hits and scored a run.
In the loss to Treynor, Henning had 5 strikeouts in 4 innings whereas Gibb stole two bases and had two hits with a run scored.
“These games are all learning experiences,” SEHS head coach Bill Shirbroun stated. “It was nice to get Payton a varsity win and see what she might do.
“We didn’t get going against Treynor, but I felt like we took things away from that game that will help us down the road.”
Next motion for the Gaels will probably be Tuesday once they journey to No. 7 (4A) North Polk.
