WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools won a $39,366.00 grant from the state to purchase technology for remote learning, Thursday.

The state awarded $32.9 million in “remote learning technology essentials” grants to 253 school districts, Thursday.

Districts can use the matching grant, along with other funds, to purchase computers and assistive technology and ensure students have internet access. The grants also cover reimbursement for technology purchases back to school closures in March.

Several other federal and state sources of technology grants are available.

“Access to technology is critical for students and their education,” Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement. “These technology grants are just one way in which we are working with districts to help them face the challenges associated with COVID-19 and keep kids focused on learning.”
