Due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases among several member schools, the Merrimack Valley Conference has decided to postpone all sports designated as moderate risk by DESE and the EEA through October 7.

All MVC field hockey, boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball matches scheduled for this week have been postponed until later in the season. The league will reassess after next week’s COVID-19 report is released.

Since boys cross-country, girls cross-country and golf have been determined low risk, they can continue their season schedule.

The move was made necessary after yesterday’s report showed that five MVC communities were newly identified as “red” on the state’s community level map. Dracut, Methuen, Lowell, Haverhill and North Andover joined Lawrence on that list.
