Tottenville kept pace in the PSAL soccer ranks, defeating New Dorp, 2-1, while maintaining third place in the S.I. division.

New Dorp took an early 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the first half, though Tottenville answered the bell only 10 minutes later.

Josh Gak buried the tying score off an assist from AC Esparragoza. Fifteen minutes later, Luca Livigni drilled the game-winner off a feed from Gak.

Tottenville had multiple chances to pad the lead in the second half, but could not add to it. The Pirates (6-2) trail only Susan Wagner (6-1) and Curtis (7-1) in the standings.

HS Track

St.Joseph-by-the-Sea junior Dylan Doskocil paced the varsity team to 6th place in the Varsity “C” race with a personal best time of 16:41.80 (8th place) over the 5K course at the Wild Safari Invitational in Jackson, N.J.

Teammate and fellow junior Joey Wilson took 9th place with a personal best of 16:46.23.

The Viking freshmen were victorious in winning the Freshmen “B” title. Colin Bennett (5th – 11:17.47), DJ Pisapia (6th – 11:17.70) and Cody Doskocil (7th – 11:17.97) all broke the previous school course record set by Dylan Doskocil in 2019 (11:19.00) for the 3200 meter course.

Robert Imparato (15th – 12:07.41) and Michael Lento (30th – 12:49.59) rounded out the scoring for the Vikings.

Girls’ Volleyball

New Dorp upended Port Richmond, 2-0 (25-18, 25-18).

Anna Motorina (7 kills and 5 aces), Isabella Mejia (8 assists and 5 kills), Sophia Firpo (6 service points and 5 kills), and Magdalena Mackiewicz (3 aces and 4 assists) led the charge.

“Great to be out there again and for the Cougars to get their first win as they got the jitters out,” said ND coach Victoria Torricelli.

Susan Wagner captured the Francis Lewis “Blast Off” tournament title after finishing with an 8-2 record in tourney play.

Midwood and Wagner split their match (25-20, 22-25) and finished with identical records, but ther Falcons won the tie breaker by a +3 margin.

SW defeated Fort Hamilton, 2-0, to wrap up the tournament. Olivia Lee was named MVP.

Girls’ Tennis

St. Joseph Hill split its two matches this week: besting NDA, 5-0, before falling to Xaverian, 4-1.

The Hilltoppers currently sit at 2-1 in league play and 3-2 overall.

Staten Island Academy claimed a pair of victories, topping Sea and NDA by identical 3-2 margins.

Nicole Rossilli , Emma Peng, Alissar Dalloul captured singles victories, while the doubles tandem of Alice Chen and Yuliya Tarnovetska earned wins.

JV Soccer

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea improved to 2-0 with a 5-1 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Sophomore Vito Trapani scored a hat trick. Hunter McCarthy and Nick Hans added goals, while Lucas Rapaglia and John Nitti played well defensively.

St. Joseph Hill defeated Sea, 3-0, on the girls’ circuit.

Goals by Isabella DiCostanzo, Samantha Marrone, & Madison Tomeo led the attack.

Nicolette Mandia stood tall in goal, while Victoria D’Ovidio, Brianna D’Agostino, & Fiona Caputo helped provide a clean sheet in front of her.

JV Football

The Monsignor Farrell Lions blanked the St. Joseph by the Sea Vikings, 21-0, this past Saturday at the Lions Den in Oakwood.

Quarterback Brendan Mullen (7 for 10, 105 yards, 1 TD) tossed a 46 yard touchdown pass to James Dinardo.

Running backs Carson Coleman (12 yard run) and Matthew Velazquez (18 yard run) added scoring runs.

The defense was led by linebackers P.J. Behan and Carmine Indellicatti, lineman Giovanni Marsilla, and safety Michael Zaremba.

Chris DiGiacomo was 3 for 3 on extra points.

The Lions (1-1) host Cardinal Hayes (1-1) this Saturday at 10am in CHSFL AAA action.
