Each week, area high school coaches can submit a list of standout performers from their team from the previous week’s games. If your child’s name – or anyone from your child’s team – doesn’t appear on the list, please encourage your coach to email their submissions to jhughes@gastongazette.com or sports@gastongazette.com before noon each Sunday.
Here are some of the top performers from the week of Oct. 11-16.
Volleyball
Amari Andrews, South Point: She finished with 15 digs and 35 serve receptions in a 3-1 win over Forestview.
Paige Bagwell, Kings Mountain: Had 30 assists, eight service points and six digs in her team’s 3-0 win over Stuart Cramer. She added 31 assists, three digs and two kills in a 3-0 win over Ashbrook.
Addie Beaver, Crest: Had 45 assists and 15 digs in a 3-0 win over Forestview.
Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day: Had 32 assists and five kills to claim the MAC tournament title over Metrolina Christian.
Drew Brown, Gaston Day: Had 18 kills in a 3-0 win over Metrolina Christian to claim the MAC tournament title.
Madison Bumgardner, Highland Tech: Racked up 89 assists in wins over Thomas Jefferson, East Gaston and Bessemer City last week.
Aaliyah Byers, Kings Mountain: Finished with 20 kills, six digs, three service points, two blocks and six serve receptions in a 3-0 Mountaineer win over Stuart Cramer. She added 21 kills, two aces, four digs and six serve receptions in a 3-0 win over Ashbrook.
Katie Cook, East Lincoln: Had 13 digs and 15 assists in a 3-0 loss to North Iredell. She added 10 digs and 34 assists in a 3-1 win over East Lincoln
Kamden Dalton, Lincoln Charter: Finished with 14 digs and 31 assists in her team’s 3-1 win over Community School of Davidson. She added 40 assists in her team’s 3-2 loss to Christ the King.
Maddie Dearing, Forestview: Had 13 serve receptions, five assists, 11 digs and an ace in her team’s 3-0 loss to Crest. She added 26 serve receptions, three assists, 10 digs and an ace in her team’s 3-1 loss to South Point.
Rachel Green, East Gaston: Had 15 kills, an ace and 10 digs in a loss to Highland Tech.
Hannah Dover, Burns: Had 15 kills, an ace and three assists in her team’s win over Shelby.
Kendall Fisher, East Lincoln: Had 12 kills and 18 digs in a 3-1 win over East Lincoln.
Lily Harmon, Forestview: Combined for 19 kills, 20 assists, three aces and two blocks in losses to Crest and South Point.
Rileigh Kiser, Cherryville: During her team’s 3-1 win over Thomas Jefferson, she became the school’s record holder for aces in a season, as well as career aces. She had five in that winning effort, along with 22 assists, eight digs and three kills. Kiser added 19 assists, four aces and five digs in a 3-0 win over Bessemer City.
Hannah Loftin, Piedmont Community Charter: Had five kills, four aces, 26 digs, two assists and seven serve receptions in a sweep of the Metro Eight 1A title match over Bradford Prep.
Bailey McClure, South Point: Finished with 32 assists in a 3-0 Lady Raiders win over Ashbrook. She added 41 assists and a serve reception in a 3-1 win over Forestview.
Reagan Poynter, Crest: Had 39 assists in a 3-0 win over Hunter Huss.
Chloe Ratliff, South Point: Had 12 kills, three aces and eight serve receptions in a 3-0 win over Ashbrook. Ratliff added 19 kills, an ace, four blocks, nine digs and 23 serve receptions in a 3-1 win over Forestview.
Ozi Sery, Highland Tech: Had 14 aces, 20 digs, eight assists and 48 serve receptions in wins over Thomas Jefferson, East Gaston and Bessemer City a week ago.
Ashlynn Stephens, Highland Tech: Finished with 44 kills, nine aces, four blocks, 14 digs, two assists and 21 serve receptions in her team’s wins over Thomas Jefferson, East Gaston and Bessemer City last week.
Ava Stratham, Piedmont Community Charter: Had 26 digs and 19 serve receptions in her team’s sweep of Bradford Prep to win the Metro Eight 1A title over Bradford Prep.
Sara Rose Warlick, Crest: Finished with 21 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 win over Forestview. She added nine kills in a 3-0 win over Hunter Huss.
Boys soccer
Tanner Baxter, Mountain Island Charter: Earned a hat trick in his team’s 4-3 loss to Lincoln Charter.
Joseph Bravo, Stuart Cramer: Earned a hat trick in his team’s 9-0 win over Crest. He added two more goals in a 5-1 over Hunter Huss.
Jack D’Amore, Gaston Day: Had two goals in his team’s 9-0 win over SouthLake Christian.
Yahir Gonzalez, East Gaston: Netted a hat trick in his team’s 6-3 loss to Highland Tech.
Miguel Hererra, Stuart Cramer: Had two goals in his team’s 9-0 win over Crest. He added two more goals in a 5-1 win over Hunter Huss.
Parker Hope, Forestview: Had two goals in his team’s 7-1 win over Kings Mountain.
Braydon Johnson, North Gaston: Earned a hat trick in his team’s 3-2 win over Kings Mountain, and followed that effort with two goals in a 3-2 win over Ashbrook.
Zachary Salgado, Lincoln Charter: Had two goals and an assist in his team’s 4-3 win over Mountain Island Charter.
Ben Spencer, Gaston Day: Scored a goal and had three assists in his team’s 9-0 win over SouthLake Christian, along with an assist on the only goal of his team’s 1-0 win in the MAC Tournament final over Concord Academy.
Ethan Walker, Lincoln Charter: Had two goals and an assist in his team’s 4-3 win over Mountain Island Charter.
Plamedi Warsinsky, Forestview: Scored two goals in his team’s 7-1 win over Kings Mountain.
Marco Wright, Gaston Day: Scored four goals in his team’s 9-0 win over SouthLake Christian, and followed that with the lone goal in his team’s 1-0 win over Concord Academy in the MAC Tournament final.
Girls tennis
Rennie Liu, Forestview: The Jaguars’ sophomore No. 1 earned her second straight Big South 3A championship. She dropped one game in last week’s conference singles tournament.
Maddy McKinley and Lily Grace McCullough, Stuart Cramer: After cruising through the first two rounds of the Big South 3A doubles tournament, the duo earned the conference title win in three sets.
Maura Pendleton and Chloe McCoy, Burns: The Bulldogs’ doubles team claimed the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A doubles championship last week.
Chloe Norman and Bailey Huss, West Lincoln: The doubles team claimed top honors at the Catawba Valley 2A girls tennis tournament.
Anna Schweppe, Shelby: Claimed the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A singles title, finishing an undefeated run against league opponents by claiming a conference tourney title. She also led the Golden Lions to a team conference championship.
Girls golf
Allie MacArthur, Crest: Was the medalist at her team’s final Big South 3A match of the season with a score of 45. The performance also put a bow on her earning conference player of the year honors.
