Ericsson stated on Friday it had struck a worldwide patent licence settlement with Apple, ending a row over royalty funds for using 5G wi-fi patents in iPhones.

The Swedish telecoms gear maker stated the multi-year deal included world cross-licences for patented mobile standard-essential applied sciences, and granted sure different patent rights.

“The settlement ends all ongoing patent-related legal disputes between the parties,” it stated in a press release.

The deal comes after Ericsson in January filed a second set of patent infringement lawsuits towards the U.S. maker of iPhones.

Both corporations had already sued one another within the United States as negotiations failed over the renewal of a seven-year licensing contract for telecoms patents first struck in 2015.

Ericsson sued first in October 2021, claiming that Apple was making an attempt to improperly reduce down the royalty charges. The iPhone maker then filed a lawsuit in December 2021, accusing the Swedish firm of utilizing “strong-arm tactics” to resume patents.

Ericsson on Friday forecast fourth-quarter mental property rights (IPR) licensing revenues of 5.5 billion-5.0 billion Swedish crowns ($530.3 million-$578.5 million) together with the results of the settlement, and together with ongoing IPR enterprise with all different licensees.
