Amogy has developed an ammonia-to-electrical power system that splits, or “cracks”, liquid ammonia into its base components of hydrogen and nitrogen after which funnels the hydrogen right into a gas cell, producing energy at 5 occasions the power density of lithium batteries. The expertise is tailor-made for industries akin to maritime delivery and energy technology.

Under the MoU, Amogy and W-Industries intend to discover alternatives for effectively scaling the design and fabrication of modularized and containerized variants of Amogy’s merchandise. This consists of the institution of a joint commissioning and service-support construction for future initiatives and product deployments.

“Our partnership with Amogy represents a significant step in W-Industries’ history and our drive towards supporting sustainable energy solutions,” stated Michael Bain, SVP at W-Industries. “We are looking forward to leveraging our process knowledge and packaging expertise to support the commercial development of Amogy’s ammonia-to-power solutions and continuing to build a long-term partnership.”

Seonghoon Woo, CEO at Amogy, added: “We’re excited to formalize this partnership with W-Industries. By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to unlock new possibilities and to optimize Amogy’s commercial offerings. Together, we’re poised to deliver enhanced value to our customers and drive positive impact in our industry.”

Amogy’s ammonia-to-electrical-power system will even be built-in as the first propulsion technique within the design of carbon-free electrical platform provide vessels (ePSVs) to be developed by Green Ships Invest.

Amogy and Green Ships lately strengthened their partnership, which was initiated in October 2023, by signing a “groundbreaking” commercial contract.
