To the CMU community:
Today, the Mid-American Conference announced the postponement of fall sports and plans to develop opportunities for fall competitions to be held in spring. While this decision is difficult for many in our university community, it prioritizes of the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and other participants.
We will continue to work with national and conference leadership as we look for opportunities for fall sports to take place this spring. We are committed to ensuring our student-athletes have a successful academic year and remain on track for one of their, and our, primary goals – graduating from Central Michigan University. We also will work with our campus partners to ensure any team activities held this semester meet the criteria outlined in CMU’s Fired Up for Fall plan to protect the safety and well-being of all involved.
It is important that we all follow the guidance of our health and medical experts, so our student-athletes have an opportunity to return to competition in the future. We encourage everyone to wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash their hands often and avoid large gatherings. By taking these precautions, we protect ourselves and others.
The caring and community focus that has been such an important part of Central Michigan University throughout the years has never been more important. Please support and look out for each other during these uncertain times. We will get through this together.
