Coronavirus symptoms in newborns: Can newborns catch COVID-19? What symptoms should you lookout for

Written by corres2

An evident sign of infection in children of all ages, doctors warn parents to look for signs of trouble such as swelling, bluish lips, red patches, raised skin, blister outbreaks or lesions which can resemble chilblains around the hands or feet to be a possible sign of COVID-19.

Swelling of any kind is usually a sign of inflammation and can occur without presentation of other typical signs and symptoms as well (such as cough, fever). However, do remember that lesions and swellings are often also the most painful, so care should be provided at once.

Do keep a tab on your baby’s heart rate and pulse. Blue lips and severe symptoms could be a sign of oxygen deprivation and hypoxia.
