The Philadelphia Food Justice Initiative (PFJI) is working to alter that. PFJI supplies funding to modern, community-led tasks that strengthen Philadelphia’s meals property and alternatives for particular person and collective motion to additional meals justice. PFJI prioritizes tasks led by Black, brown and indigenous folks, immigrants, folks residing with disabilities, and individuals who have lived expertise with well being injustice. To date, PFJI has awarded grants to 18 organizations. Sixteen of these organizations are owned or led by Black, brown and indigenous folks and 11 are owned or led by ladies.

Now in its fourth spherical of funding, PFJI is searching for modern proposals for community-led tasks that construct meals justice in Philadelphia. For this spherical, $500,000 in funding is out there for modern tasks geared toward creating extra wholesome meals choices in Philadelphia. Non-profit organizations, companies, cooperatives and collectives engaged on meals justice are eligible to use for as much as $100,000 for his or her tasks. Applications are due by May 26 and there’s no minimal grant award.
