Item Sports: Local sports teams head into state tournaments

The 11th seeded West Boylston girls soccer team will host the winner of the Mt. Everett Regional/Minuteman Regional game. Those two schools play on Thursday. The date and time of the game with West Boylston will be announced.

This is just one of several tournaments Item-area teams will be involved with in the coming week, including Clinton and West Boylston football (see story, 1B).

MIAA State Field Hockey Tournament Division 2, #4 Nashoba hosted #29 Whitman-Hanson on Thursday, Nov. 4 (after The Item went to press).

MIAA State Girls Soccer Tournament Division 4, #28 Clinton Gaels will travel to #5 Blackstone Valley Tech on Thursday, Nov. 4 (after The Item went to press).

MIAA State Girls Soccer Tournament Division 5, #7 Tahanto will play the winner of the McCann Technical-Innovation Academy match (playing Thursday, Nov. 4). The Tahanto game is Saturday, Nov. 6, at a time to be announced.

MIAA State Girls Soccer Tournament Division 2, #18 Nashoba will travel to #15 Westwood on Friday, Nov. 5, 5 p.m.

MIAA Division 2 State Volleyball  #16 Nashoba will host #17 North Attleboro this week in a first round matchup, Friday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m.

MIAA Division 2 State Boys Soccer tournament, #19 Nashoba will travel to #14 Hopkinton, Thursday, Nov. 4 (after the Item went to press).

MIAA Division 5 State Boys Soccer tournament, #26 West Boylston hosts #39 Taconic, Thursday, Nov. 4 (after The Item went to press); #17 Tahanto will travel to #16 Georgetown, Friday, Nov. 5, 4 p.m.
