Korean actor and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” star Kim Seon-ho’s exclusive contract with Salt Entertainment, his agency, expired in September after which he became embroiled in an abortion controversy involving his alleged former girlfriend.
According to an exclusive report by Korean media outlet Sport Dong-A on Oct. 19, Kim Seon-ho’s contract with Salt Entertainment ended last month after three years. However, sources told the newspaper that Kim Seon-ho partially extended the end of management work as he was starring in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”
On Sept. 12, 2018, Salt Entertainment announced that it signed up Kim Seon-ho, adding him to the agency’s list of stars.
“Kim Seon-ho and Salt Entertainment have been discussing the contract renewal since last summer ahead of the expiration of their contract (in September). Rumors that Kim Seon-ho’s exclusive contract will expire have already spread in the industry, and some companies have attempted to contact him,” an industry insider told Sports Dong-A.
The insider added, “However, I know that due to the remaining schedule for ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,’ the contract renewal or transfer was postponed after the end of the work. But a problem arose.”
That problem is a post on Oct. 17 on the Korean website Pann Nate by a woman who said she was the former girlfriend of “popular actor ‘K.’” She said she got pregnant with his baby last year but he forced her to have an abortion.
The details in her post led to the Korean media pinpointing Kim Seon-ho as the actor. Salt Entertainment issued a statement on Oct. 19 to say that it was verifying the facts of the online post.
“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” aired its 16th and final episode on Oct. 17 with the highest ratings for the series.
