MANSA: Delhi’s Patiala House court on Tuesday allowed the custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi — an accused in the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala murder case — to the Punjab police and also allowed Bishnoi to be taken to Punjab under tight security by giving transit remand for a day.
A team of Punjab police, with bullet proof vehicles and elaborate security arrangements, had reached Delhi on Tuesday morning.
A court from Mansa had on Monday issued production warrants of Lawrence Bishnoi.
The Punjab police left for Punjab on late Tuesday evening with Lawrence Bishnoi in its custody.

Two applications were moved by Punjab police, one about his arrest and the other about allowing transit remand to take him to Punjab.

The court, after lengthy arguments, allowed his arrest by Punjab police and transit remand to take him to Mansa.

The Punjab advocate general appeared in the court.
Bishnoi is expected to be produced in the Mansa court on Wednesday upon his reaching Punjab.
The ‘conspiracy’
Lawrence Bishnoi is accused of conspiring in the killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moose Wala, despite being lodged at Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Moosewala was killed on the evening of May 29 at village Jawaharke near Mansa when he was driving his Mahindra Thar with two companions accompanying him.
The shooters had fired indiscriminately at him.
The lawyers of Bishnoi had demanded that if court allows his transit remand then foolproof security should be arranged and he should be allowed to be taken to Punjab under handcuffs and shackles to avoid any excuse of encounter.
Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based Satinderjit Singh aka Goldy Brar had taken responsibility for killing Moosewala.
It was claimed that by eliminating Moose Wala they had avenged the killing of youth Akali leader Vicky Middukhera, who was killed in 2021 at Mohali.
Bishnoi suspected Moose Wala had some hand in the killing of Middukhera.
In the meanwhile, the Maharashtra police on Monday had arrested shooter Santosh Jadhav and Nagnath Suryavanshi.
It is learnt a team from Punjab police has reached Pune to make investigations from them.
Lawrence Bishnoi belongs to village Duttarwali in district Fazilka and is facing dozens of cases under charges of murder, attempt to murder, extortion in various states.
Two members of Bishnoi gang arrested
Punjab Police has arrested two active members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who were working on the directions of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, PTI adds.
Gagandeep Singh alias Gaagi and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi were arrested along with arms and ammunition in Mohali while they were on their way to deliver a consignment of weapons, Mohali’s senior superintendent of police, Vivek Sheel Soni said on Tuesday.
Both are residents of Kingra, Dabbwali in Sirsa district of Haryana.
The SSP said that two 32 calibre pistols were seized from them along with eight live cartridges and an SUV bearing a Haryana registration number.
A case under relevant provisions of the law including the Arms Act has been registered against them at Mohali.
Soni said the two were in regular touch with Godly Brar through gangster Manpreet Singh alias Manna, who allegedly provided a car to the assailants in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala murder case and was recently arrested.
Both the accused were working on the directions of Goldy Brar and indulged in illegal weapons smuggling from border areas of Punjab and Rajasthan, he said in an official statement.
Soni said that acting on a tip-off, an operation was launched by the Mohali police along with a team of Anti-Gangster Task Force following which the arrests were made.
Further investigation is on, he said.
