DENVER, Colo. – Awards continue to come in for Colorado State’s Trey McBride as he was named the College Male Athlete of the Year by the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.
He is the 19th Ram – male or female – to earn the distinction and first since 2016 when women’s basketball’s Ellen Nystrom was named the College Female Athlete of the Year. He is the first football student-athlete since Rashard Higgins in 2014 to be named the College Male Athlete of the Year.
In 2021, McBride put together one of the finest seasons by a Ram in program history by becoming the first-ever Unanimous All-American and bringing home the second national individual award with the John Mackey Award. He was named a first-team All-American by all five NCAA selectors among a host of others while leading the nation’s tight ends in yards (1,121) and receptions (90). He is expected to take part in the 2022 Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine.
