Report: Gov. Wolf Will Allow Fans at Sporting Events

Pitt next plays at home on October 24 against Notre Dame. The question is, will a percentage of fans be permitted at Heinz Field?

That question could be answered this morning as Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf will conduct a 10 a.m. press conference and WPXI-TV is reporting that he will announce that he will be permitting some fans to attend sporting events in Pennsylvania.

There’s been no word given on the amount of fans that he will permit to attend these games. This will likely be determined by the size of the stadium/arena.

This would immediately impact the fan bases of Pitt, Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. As mentioned earlier, Pitt’s next home game is October 24. Penn State opens their season on October 24 at home against Indiana. The Steelers are home this coming Sunday against the in-state Philadelphia Eagles.

If this report by WPXI-TV is accurate, fans could return to Heinz Field as soon as this Sunday.
