Barber Beast on the Block: Until noon on Monday. In a typical year, athletes would be getting ready for the Beast on the Bay obstacle course put on by the Barber National Institute. This year, due to COVID-19, they’re doing a virtual 5K, which they can run anytime, anywhere they like between Friday at noon and Monday at noon. The fundraiser costs $25 for U.S. participants, $35 for folks from outside the country. For more information and to register, visit https://bit.ly/3bHox7l. After the event, finisher shirts and face-coverings will be mailed.
Introducing the Gateway Concept at Third and State streets: 4 to 5 p.m. Online event. Meet the California-based artists, Aphidoidea, selected for the Gateway project at 3rd and State Streets. They will provide an overview of their work in other communities as well as give insights into how the 3rd/State Street concept was informed by their visit to Erie last fall. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on design components such as color and graphic messaging.
Painting at Dusk: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Conneaut Arts Center, 1025 Buffalo St., Conneaut, Ohio. A walk in the park sip & paint. An artist will talk students through this painting step by step. Feel free to bring snacks and wine! Ages 18 and older. Younger teens can take the class if accompanied by a responsible adult. Supplies are provided, including an 11-inch-by-14-inch canvas. $35 for nonmembers, $32 for CAC members.
