DELAWARE – After more than three hours of back-and-forth discussion, public comments, and opinions from experts, the Delaware Board of Education voted 4-3 to uphold the DIAA decision to play sports this fall.
DIAA voted on August 6 to move fall sports to late winter/early spring 2021, and to condense all sports seasons. The organization reversed that decision on September 10, after guidance for football was released by the Department of Public Health.
Public comment preceded discussion by officials over the matter. Nine people in total gave their testimony, both for an against playing fall sports in 2020.
Athletes will begin practice September 28.
