LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County School District is moving forward with a solar array project.
The district’s board of directors approved a solar-power purchase agreement and corresponding solar site lease agreement with McClure Company during a special voting meeting held prior to the scheduled committee-of-the-whole meeting held Thursday.
The board also approved an amendment of a guaranteed energy savings agreement which provides further facility improvement measures and guaranteed energy and operational savings.
The board also reviewed the following items that will voted on during the next meeting slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday:
¯The addition of unified bocce ball as a winter sport. Costs will include transportation and coaching.
“This is becoming an increasingly popular sport that (would give) a lot of kids who may not otherwise participate in activities, including some of our special needs children, an opportunity to participate,” said Superintendent James Estep.
¯Tax exonerations for Union, Armagh, Granville, Brown and Bratton townships and Burnham Borough;
¯Teresa Pully as bus driver for Fisher Bros.;
¯The resignation of Mandy Zook, van driver;
¯Approval of Gregory O’Donnell, part-time food service van driver at Mifflin County Junior High School;
¯Approval of Jonathan Force, social studies teacher at MCJHS at a salary of $43,522;
¯Approval of Kevin Reigle, head 9th grade boys basketball coach for the 2020-21 season;
¯Approval of Ali Herto, event staff for the 2020-21 season;
¯Travis Mattern to appointed mentor for Jonathan Force for MCJHS full induction.
