Two undefeated Lorain County League teams are on a collision course.

Firelands and Keystone are set to collide in Week 5 on Sept. 25 at Keystone High School.

Firelands is coming off of a 55-0 rout of Clearview, while Keystone pulled away from Brookside to grab a 28-13 win in Week 4.

First place in the Lorain County League is on the line with the winner putting itself in the driver’s seat for the conference title.

“Even if we’re not 4-0, it’s always a fun game,” Keystone coach Don Griswold said. “We have a lot of friends over there and vice versa. This is an old rivalry game. The Keystone vs. Firelands game goes back decades.”

Firelands boasts a stout defense with head coach Ryan O’Rourke’s defensive unit posting three shutout wins over Columbia, Brookside and Clearview, while also surrendering three points in its game against Black River.

On offense, Falcons quarterback Kyle Ransom and running back Carter Janicek bring a potent one-two punch to the team’s offensive attack.

Keystone brings a high-powered offense to the matchup. Quarterback Konner Rodick is surrounded by weapons in running back Gideon Lampron and receiver Ryne Shackelford. Lampron rushed for over 200 yards in the Wildcats’ first two games and ran for over 140 yards in each of the past two contests. On the other side of the ball, Lampron is also a standout linebacker on defense.

“We’re both 4-0 and it seems to be a classic game of strength against strength where they are playing great defense and we are playing good offense,” Griswold said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. Two 4-0 teams in Lorain County who are very familiar with one another with friends on both sides. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

This matchup should be a good one between two quality teams with conference title hopes.
