He was born September 12, 1935, in Wellsville, the son of the late John and Vivian (Cook) McIntosh. In addition to his parents, Lew was preceded in death by two sisters: Neva Heffner and Rebecca Moss.

Lew graduated from Wellsville High School in 1954 and served in the Unites States Army Reserves for four years. He was employed for thirty-eight years as an apparatus technician for the former Ohio Bell Company and AT&T before retiring in 1992. Lew also owned and operated McIntosh Water Well Drilling from 1978-2008. He was a proud lifelong member of the Southern Ruritans, and he was also a member of the Communication Workers Union and the NRA. Lew was an avid outdoorsman and was a founding member of one of the local fur and fishing clubs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a love for old cars. Lew was a member for nearly sixty years of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and also Sacred Heart Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine F. (Wehner) McIntosh, whom he married October 6, 1962; one daughter, Suzanne “Sue” Bertsch and her husband, Robert “Bob”, of North Canton, Ohio; one son, Kevin McIntosh and his wife, Christa, of Wellsville; one sister, Yvonne Dotson of East Liverpool; and one brother, Blaine “Buck” McIntosh of Wellsville. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Katie (Todd) Wright, Emmalee (Matt) Stewart, and Sam McIntosh. Lew has a great-grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Sacred Heart Church, 418 Fourth Street in Chester, WV, with Rev. Jeeson Stephan presiding.

Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the number of people in the funeral home at one time will be limited. Also, as mandated by Governor Mike DeWine, face masks are required to be worn while in the funeral home.
