Delhi Capitals innings in a nutshell – Opener Prithvi Shaw smashed 64 off 43 balls while Rishabh Pant contributed 37 off 25 in Delhi Capitals’ decent 175 for 3 against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai. Shaw’s innings had nine fours and a six while he added 94 for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (35 off 27 balls). However skipper Shreyas Iyer (26 off 22 balls) had a rare off-day as he consumed a few dot balls and DC may have ended at least 10 to 15 runs short of a safe score. Piyush Chawla after a horrendous last game had a decent outing picking 2 for 33 while Sam Curran got the other wicket.

End of 20th over: So, a single off the last ball and Delhi Capitals have managed a decent score here against CSK. They finish at 175/3, riding on a solid 64 from Prithvi Shaw. CSK bowlers have done pretty well here in the death overs to restrict DC well under the 200-run mark, which at one time looked pretty achievable.
19. 4 overs: FOUR!Marcus Stoinis joins the act. Shuffles across his stumps and hits it in the fine-leg region to collect his first boundary. DC 170/3
End of 19th over: OUT! Wicket on the final ball of the over for Sam Curran. MS Dhoni takes a terrific diving catch to end Shreyas Iyer’s innings on 26. DC 161/3
17.5 overs: FOUR! Rishabh Pant now looking to hit everything over the fence. This time he goes inside-out against Hazlewood and finds the gap to perfection. Pant moves to 31 off 20 balls. DC 157/2
17.2 overs: FOUR! A blistering cover drive from Rishabh Pant off Josh Hazlewood and misfield from Kedhar Jadhav at the fence earns him a boundary. 150 comes up for Delhi Capitals! DC 151/2

16.4 overs: FOUR! Full toss from Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer wasted no time on that one. Eases it to behind square-leg boundary to collect four runs. DC 142/2
End of 16th over: Another excellent over for Delhi Capitals as Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant collect 10 runs from it. Final 4 overs remaining and both Iyer and Pant looking now looking put peddle on the accelerator. DC 134/2
14.4 overs: FOUR! That was a cracking cover drive from Rishabh Pant off Deepak Chahar. He just timed it to perfection and no one from the CSK camp moved. Pant looking pretty good at the moment. Setting himself up perfectly for the death overs. DC 122/2

12.2 overs: OUT! This time Piyush Chawla gets better of Prithvi Shaw. Shaw charged down the ground but Chawla saw him coming. Dropped the ball in short as it hit the inside edge and then the pad of Shaw and rolled straight to Dhoni behind the stumps. Dhoni did the rest with a lot of ease. Shaw stumped as he walks back after a terrific 64. DC 103/2
11.4 overs: FOUR! Prithvi Shaw continuing with his mayhem. Quicker one from Ravindra Jadeja and Shaw cuts it behind point to collect his 10th boundary. Shaw batting on 64 off just 40 balls. 100 also comes up for DC with that boundary. DC 102/1
10.3 overs: OUT! Finally a breakthrough for CSK. Shikhar Dhawan goes for the reverse sweep against Piyush Chawla but misses the ball completely. The umpire had no second thoughts in his mind. Raises his finger straightaway as Dhawan walks back for 35. DC 94/1
End of 10th over: SIX! And what a way to finish the over. Prithvi Shaw gets on one knee and smacks Ravindra Jadeja over the deep fence. We are half way through the DC innings and both Shikhar Dhawan and Shaw now looking really threatening. They have collected 52 from the last 4 overs. DC 88/0

A cracking knock from the 20-year-old as he gets to his 5th IPL fifty off just 35 balls. Eight fours in his knock so far and Delhi will need a lot more from him now. The partnership between him and Shikhar Dhawan looking really good. DC 77/0

End of 7th over: FOUR! Expensive start from Piyush Chawla as he gives away a couple of boundaries in his first over, including one off his last ball of the over. Prithvi Shaw looking really good out in the middle at the moment. He has so far hit 6 fours in his 38-run knock. DC49/0
End of 6ht over: So, the powerplay done and dusted and Delhi Capitals are steadily moving forward. Prithvi Shaw (27 off 23) has clearly been the aggressor so far. Shikhar Dhawan (7 off 13), on the other hand is quietly looking to settle in. And MS Dhoni has introduced spin straightaway after the powerplay as Piyush Chawla comes into the attack. DC 36/0

MS Dhoni: We’ll bowl first. I think we need to respect the conditions and the fact that dew will play a part. Maybe the teams batting second so far in the tournament have made mistakes to not win. It looks better to bat second on TV. Some of the wickets might slow down as the tournament progresses. But given the number of strips out here and the amount of grass, it won’t become a low scoring tournament. When you have 14 games before the play-offs you can’t win all games. We need to control the controllables better, and one of them were the no balls. We also did well to get to 200 in the last game. One change – Ngidi misses out and Hazlewood comes in. As fas as my batting position goes, I’ll do whatever is best for the team.
Shreyas Iyer: We needed that win in the first game of the season. The boys are really motivated and we are in a great mindset. I would have chosen to field as well because in the last match dew played a great part. Ashwin, I feel is doing pretty well, but we wanted to give him a 2-3 game rest so that he feels better. He’s doing well in the gym. We have two changes – Amit Mishra in for Ashwin and Avesh Khan for Mohit Sharma.
