LANCASTER — The 2020-21 Chadwick Bay Ballers 13U team hit the diamond for the first game of their new season Saturday.

It was most of the players’ first games on a 60/90 field for a scrimmage at the Lancaster Devils.

The Ballers’ offense was strong, but fell to the Devils, 11-6.

Chadwick Bay got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run. In the bottom of the first inning, the Devils tied things up at 2-2.

Lancaster pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning.

The Ballers tallied three runs in the fourth inning led by an Andrew Reed walk and a triple by Danny Hoth on his 13th birthday.

A.J. Kinney started the game for the Ballers and lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out two. Ryan Kinney, Paul Trippy III and Maddox Sheesley each contributed in relief for the Ballers.

Aiden Testa, Sheesley, Raynathan Santiago, Hoth, Kevin Herington, both Kinneys and Trippy each collected one hit to lead The Ballers offensively.

The Ballers 13U team will hit the road to Harborcreek, Pennsylvania next weekend to scrimmage a pair of teams.

On Saturday, Oct. 10 from noon until it is sold out the Ballers will be hosting a Weidner’s Chicken BBQ drive-thru in the Kosciusko Club parking lot off Hoyt Street in Dunkirk. Chadwick Bay Ballers Developmental Baseball Organization is starting its second season, which will entail year-round practice and game opportunities while encouraging a positive atmosphere and working around school sports and local league play. There are still available player and coach positions for 8U Machine Pitch, 10-12U and 15U Teams, which should start practicing this week.
