CLEVELAND, Ohio — YouTube TV subscribers will lose access to Fox Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio effective October 1.

The cable replacement service said Tuesday it hasn’t been able to reach a deal with Sinclair, the parent company of the cable home of Cavaliers and Indians, to keep 19 Fox regional sports networks on the platform.

“To bring you 85+ channels, we periodically renegotiate contracts with content owners. In February, we announced we had negotiated an extension with Sinclair to continue providing FOX Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) through the end of MLB, NHL and NBA seasons,” YouTube TV posted on Twitter. “Now that the seasons are over, that extension is expiring. Starting October 1, 2020, FOX RSNs will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Members that are impacted will no longer have access to Library recordings from the FOX RSNs.”

“This was a difficult decision made after months of negotiations. We hope we can bring FOX RSNs back in the future. We thank you for your membership as we work to make YouTube TV the best streaming experience,” the company wrote.

Earlier this year, YouTube TV warned the sports channels would be leaving the service in March. Though the two sides reached a temporary extension to keep them on the platform without interruption, the arrangement restricted the viewing area, leaving Cavaliers and Indians fans outside of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton area in the dark.

For now, YouTube TV subscribers can still follow the Indians’ postseason run on ESPN and, if the team makes it beyond the wild-card round, TBS and Fox. There is also time for Cavaliers fans to hold on to their subscription and hope a new deal is ironed out prior to next season as the NBA hasn’t announced a definitive start date yet.

For cord cutters, Fox Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio remain on Hulu + Live TV, which at $55 is $10 cheaper than YouTube TV; and AT&T TV Now’s Max plan, which is $80 but comes with HBO Max. With the exception of Dish, most traditional cable and satellite systems in the area carry the networks, too.
