MILL HALL — Central Mountain girls tennis earned its seventh consecutive victory to move to 12-1 on the season after beating Shikellamy on Wednesday, 5-0, at the Gibson family tennis center.
The Wildcats’ victory came on the day of the team’s senior day, when Central Mountain honored its four seniors prior to the match.
The four seniors Carolina Carpenetti, Olivia Anastos, Caitlyn Dale, and Ella Talbot were all three-year letterwinners as well as three-time PHAC champions. The group finished with a final record of 60-10.
All four seniors were in action during the team’s final home match. Carpenetti and Anastos competed in singles, and Dale and Talbot combined for doubles.
In No.1 singles, Carpenetti won 6-4, 6-0 over Shikellamy’s Melanie Minnier, and in No. 2 singles Olivia Anastos was victorious over Kiersten Strohecker, 6-1, 6-4.
Central Mountain’s other two seniors teamed up for doubles No. 1.
Dale and Talbot defeated Kelly Sprankel and Anne Norris, 6-3, 6-1, to earn the victory.
Kati Kwiatek defeated Olivia Weaver, 6-1, 6-3, in No. 3 singles. At second doubles Bree Weaver and Clare Long won, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.
The Wildcats compete today at the District 6 doubles tournament in Altoona.
