Students at Manhasset Secondary School have the opportunity to use 3D printers in the classroom. Two 3D printers were included in the district’s budget for this year. They are being used in the new art elective, 3D Design and Production.

The goal of the class is to teach students how to utilize cutting edge technology while still applying the core principals of design they learn in a typical art class. Throughout the course students will be able to print things like skeletons for Halloween as well as more functional items like phone cases.

Director of Fine and Performing Arts Christopher Hale says the class is intended to spark a new interest in students when it comes to art and technology. The elective is offered to students in ninth through twelfth grade.
