PATNA: State art, culture and youth affairs minister Alok Ranjan Jha on Monday said the government was committed to establishing a sports university in Bihar by April next year. The minister made the statement while addressing an event organised by the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) here.
:The government is making all efforts to establish a sports university in Bihar by April next year in order to promote all types of sports. Steps will also be taken for more facilities at Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna and other stadiums elsewhere in the state,” the minister said.
He added sports and arts were among the focus areas of the state government.
“When it comes to Bihar, it is known that the state is rich in art, culture and sports and has lots of youth who are talented and God gifted,” Jha said.
The minister handed over certificates to students of computer training programme. These students trained under the skill development scheme of the BIA.
“Altogether 1,600 students from 40 batches have so far undergone skill training at BIA,” president of the association Ram Lal Khetan said.
“The BIA acts as a bridge between the government and youth and this scheme covers training in tally, computer and basics of accounting. The training programme is for free,” said Ashish Rohatgi, secretary general, BIA.
