Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Saturday said that the State government was committed to promote rural sports and games.
Laying the foundation stone for a cricket academy set up by the Cricket Academy of Telangana at Durajpally, Jagadish Reddy said that there was a need for sincere efforts for the revival of unique sports and games of Telangana. In addition to this, sportsmen from rural areas should be encouraged to emerge as national and international level players. Sportsmen would also bring reputation to an area at the national and international level, he reminded.
Underlining the need to encourage the children and youth towards sports, he opined that sports would work as a first step in inculcating zeal in them to achieve the goals. It would also help in the physical and mental fitness of the people. He reminded that youth have a special crazy for cricket. He exuded confidence that setting up of cricket academy would facilitate the youth of the district to get training and practice the game.

Cricket Academy of Telangana was setting up an academy including a cricket stadium on six acres of land at Durajpally, which was located five kilometers from the district headquarter Suryapet. Arrangements would be made for the staying of 150 players in the academy.
