GALESBURG VOLLEYBALL
Streaks swept by Maroons
GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School volleyball team fell in straight sets 25-6, 25-22 to Moline on Tuesday night in Western Big 6 play at John Thiel Gym.
Capre Ferguson and Juniper Schwartzman had three kills each for the Silver Streaks (9-19, 3-11 in WB6. Schwartzman also had a block.
Kiarra Kilgore and Grace Nelson had assist apiece for Galesburg. Kadynce Lydic had six digs, and Abby Lingafleter had five digs and an ace. Nelson also had an ace for the Streaks.
Galesburg’s sophomores fell to the Maroons 25-16, 25-15, and the Streaks’ freshmen grabbed a 25-16, 25-16 straight set victory against Moline.

Galesburg falls to UT in PK shootout
GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School boys soccer team battled with United Township on Tuesday night at C.C. Van Dyke Field.
Trailing the Panthers 1-0, Matthew Roach scored for the Silver Streaks to tie the Western Big 6 affair up in regulation. Neither team would score after that, and the game went into double overtime.
Neither Galesburg or UT was able to find the back of the net in either OT and the contest went into a PK shootout.The Panthers made five free kicks to the Streaks’ four to grab the win.
GALESBURG GIRLS SWIMMING
Moline sinks Galesburg
GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School girls swimming and diving team was downed by Moline 119-64 on Tuesday at Mustain Pool.
Silver Streaks senior Molly Pettit placed first in one-meter diving (170.45), and Galesburg sophomore Allie Warren took first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.76.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Scots grab win in OT
GRINNELL, Iowa — The Monmouth College women’s soccer team trailed 2-0 at halftime on Tuesday night but rallied for a thrilling 3-2 overtime road win over Grinnell.
Erica Bossard and Kaylee Doeber scored in the second half before Sam Koppers hit the game winner for the Fighting Scots.
Grinnell took the lead just over five minutes into the game and made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. The game stayed 2-0 through halftime as Lea Selquist made six saves in the first 45 minutes.
Monmouth got on the board early in the second half as Bossard scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Shelby Sims. That goal game at 50:48 and the Scots tied the game 18 minutes later when Doebert put one in the middle of the goal.
Neither team scored in the final 20 minutes of regulation or in the first 10 minutes of overtime. With 3:05 to play in the second overtime, Koppers scored her second goal of the season and second in as many games on an assist by Hadyn DeLeeuw.
Monmouth outshot Grinnell 21-19 for the game and led shots on goal 12-11. Selquist finished with nine saves as the Scots improved to 2-2 in Midwest Conference play.
JR. HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL
Galesburg’s hoopers all grab wins
GALESBURG — All three of Galesburg junior high girls basketball teams secured victories Tuesday night.
The Streaks’ eighth graders beat Kewanee Central 36-6. Khloe May had 11 points, and Sophia Kisler and Olivia Springer chipped in six points each for Galesburg.
The Streaks’ seventh grade black team defeated Kewanee Central 26-15. Galesburg was lead in scoring by Ella Herchendroder with 18 points.
The Streaks’ seventh grade silver squad won against Dunlap Middle School 44-16. Jozalyn Kilgore led Galesburg with 21 points. Evelin Guel chipped in 10, and Brooklyne Tabb finished with eight points for the silver team.
JR. HIGH FOOTBALL
Titans blanked by Golden Eagles
The Monmouth-Roseville Junior High School football team was defeated by Mercer County 22-0 Tuesday evening.
Brody Dodd had several key blocks for the Titans, and Mon-Rose’s Kaden Scott had a 50-yard kick off return, and the Titans’ Jason Engle had a 15-yard pass reception from Calogero Sarcoma.
