NEW DELHI: Sulking Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday agreed to withdraw his resignation as state Congress president and resume his duties.
“Everything has been sorted out,” Sidhu said after a meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the national capital. Congress incharge of Punjab Harish Rawat was also present in the meeting.
Briefing media about the meeting, Rawat said that Sidhu shared all his concerns with Rahul Gandhi and was told that his concerns would be taken care of.
Sidhu had resigned as Punjab Congress chief on September 28 after differences with chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi over certain appointments.
However, the party leadership had not accepted his resignation. Ever since efforts were on to sort out the differences between the two leaders.
Sidhu had on Thursday met senior Congress leaders KK Venugopal and Harish Rawat and had said that he will accept any decision taken by the Gandhis.
Earlier, the two leaders had held a meeting at the state Congress headquarters but failed to resolve the differences.
Channi was made chief minister of Punjab after Congress removed Captain Amarinder Singh from the post following his bitter power tussle with Sidhu.
